Elementary School Toolkit: Substance Use Prevention and Harm Reduction

The purpose of this resource is to link educators with information and evidence informed activities aimed at preventing and delaying substance use among elementary school aged children and youth. Strategies target multiple levels of influence including students’ and parents’ attitudes and knowledge, classroom and school level social and physical environments as well as school policies..

 

Highlights of Toolkit

  • Curriculum related activities that can be used in the classroom and school to support protective factors and the prevention and delay of substance use
  • Activities to support school and classroom leadership and student engagement
  • School level initiatives to create supportive environments

Educators are encouraged to review the resources and choose content that is appropriate and applicable to their specific class and school community.
