Tobacco Retailer Information Sessions
The Middlesex-London Health Unit provides Tobacco Retailer Information Sessions, which focus on the following topics:
- how to check identification to ensure tobacco is not sold to minors
- the consequences for selling tobacco to minors
- the responsibilities of store owners
- questions you have about the Smoke-Free Ontario Act
The one hour interactive session offers you and your staff the opportunity to learn more about tobacco sale laws and clarify any questions or issues they wish.
A Tobacco Enforcement Officer can tailor the information session to suit your staff and timing needs. A session can be held at the Tobacco Enforcement Office, or at another location of your choice.
There are currently no upcoming sessions.
Selling Tobacco to Minors
If your staff sells tobacco to minors, the storeowners and companies are also liable. Breaking the law could result in loss of the right to sell tobacco. This training session can help prevent violations resulting from selling tobacco to minors.
Contact the Tobacco Control Team to discuss attending an information session, setting up your own information session or learning more about Tobacco Retailer Information Sessions.
