Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are spread through sexual contact (oral, vaginal or anal sex).

STIs can be spread through:

  • semen
  • vaginal fluid
  • blood
  • rectal mucus
  • breast milk

Many STIs are easily treated, but if left untreated some STIs can cause serious illness, or even permanent damage such as infertility. If you are sexually active you should get tested for STIs with each new sexual partner.

The STI Clinic can help you get started with STI testing. The Clinic operates on a drop-in basis. You do not need an appointment or a health card. At this clinic, you will find a safe, non-judgemental atmosphere where you can have an open discussion about your sexual health.

If you want to be checked for herpes or warts and you have a lump, bump, or sore then the doctors at the STI Clinic will examine you and possibly take a swab.
