2010 Annual Report of the Chief Medical Officer of Health of Ontario to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario

Recommendation

It is recommended that Report 031-12 re 2010 Annual Report of the Chief Medical Officer of Health of Ontario to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario be received for information.

Attached as Appendix A is a copy of Dr. Arlene King’s 2010 Annual Report to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. It emphasizes the need to refocus the healthcare system on prevention approaches, particularly, on health promotion, health protection and healthy public policy. The Chief Medical Officer of Health is required under Section 81(4) of the Health Protection and Promotion Act to provide an annual report to the Legislature to include existing vacancies for Medical Officer of Health and Associated Medical Officer of Health positions. These vacancies as of October 20, 2011, can be found listed on page 27 of the Report.
