Health Unit's COVID-19 Dashboard Shifts to Monday to Friday Reporting Starting in July

Starting in July, the Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) will be changing the frequency with which the online COVID-19 Dashboard is updated. Rather than the current seven-day-a-week schedule, the dashboard will be updated from Monday to Friday, except for statutory holidays observed by the Health Unit.

Heat and High Humidity Prompt One-Day Heat Alert

The current Environment Canada forecast is calling for high temperatures of 30º Celsius, and a humidex of 40 today, meeting the Middlesex-London Health Unit’s threshold for issuing a Heat Alert. The high heat and humidity expected throughout the day is a good reminder to dress in light clothing, take breaks from working outside and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. The one-day heat alert will remain in effect until Wednesday, June 30th, when rain is expected to help cool temperatures and bring the humidex below 40.

Health Unit Opens Shortened Second Dose Appointments to All Individuals 12 and Older

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) will expand shortened second dose intervals to all individuals 12 years of age and older, starting Monday, June 28th. Continued large deliveries of vaccine and additional staff resources at mass vaccination clinics, have given the Health Unit confidence that it can extend shortened second dose intervals to all individuals. The decision follows the Province’s announcement Friday to expand shortened intervals to all those over the age of 18. Starting Monday, June 28 at 8:00 a.m., anyone 12 years of age and older in the London and Middlesex region will be able to book their second dose appointments at the shortened interval of 28 days.

Delay in Pfizer Delivery Means More People Will Be Getting Moderna As Their Second Dose

In order to meet the challenges associated with a delayed delivery of Pfizer mRNA vaccine to the region next week, three mass vaccination clinics in the Middlesex-London region will only be providing the Moderna mRNA vaccine to adults this coming week. Starting Monday, June 21, Western Fair Agriplex, North London Optimist Community Centre and the Caradoc Community Centre in Mount Brydges will be offering only the Moderna mRNA vaccine to those over the age of 18 who attend for a first or second dose appointment. A limited supply of Pfizer will be available at each clinic exclusively and only for youth aged 12 to 17 years old.

Email Address, Phone Number Will Make Cancelling Unneeded Appointments Easier

The Middlesex-London Health Unit is making it easier to cancel second dose COVID-19 vaccination appointments for those who no longer need them. With shortened intervals between vaccine doses, increased supply, and local pharmacies offering a choice of mRNA or viral vector vaccines, a growing number of people no longer need second dose vaccination appointments originally booked for them when they received their first dose.
