Middlesex-London Health Unit COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility Update

Posted by on

Following the direction of the Provincial Government and the weekly update from the Vaccine Prioritization Committee, the Middlesex-London Health Unit will expand COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to the following groups:

Child care workers who are 18 years of age and older, defined specifically as:

  • Licensees, employees and students on an educational placement who interact directly with children in licensed child care centres and in authorized recreation and skill building programs.
  • Licensed home child care and in-home service providers, employees of a home child care agency and students on an educational placement who interact directly with children in a licensed home child care setting.

Eligibility will be expanded to child care workers in unlicensed child care settings once this direction has been provided by the Provincial Government.

Eligible child care workers will be able to book COVID-19 vaccine appointments starting at 8:00 a.m., Thursday, April 29th. Each person booking an appointment based on these criteria will require a username and password from their employer in order to book an appointment. Operators of child care centres can pre-register here under the category of “Essential workers who cannot work from home”.

How to book an appointment:

  • Book online at www.covidvaccinelm.ca (new appointments open daily at 8:00 a.m.)
  • Call 226-289-3560 (8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday to Sunday)

The Ontario Ministry of Health, through the guidance of the provincial COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force, prioritizes and directs the allocation of the COVID-19 vaccine. To ensure fairness across the Province, local jurisdictions must adhere to the provincially determined sequence of distribution. Vaccine eligibility is reviewed weekly for London and Middlesex County by the Vaccine Prioritization Advisory Committee, based on the regional supply and Provincial direction. Eligibility criteria and prioritization schedules will be shared publicly as the latest information becomes available. Occasionally, due to regional supply, appointment availability, inventory and operational requirements there may be differences related to the administration and pre-registration processes between health units.
