Immunization against COVID-19 and influenza has been available for highrisk community members for several weeks. These immunizations become available, for free, to everyone six months and older with an Ontario address on Monday October 27, 2025. Most local pharmacists will offer vaccines for COVID-19 and influenza, while primary health care providers may offer both these immunizations plus protection from RSV for everyone 75 and older.
Dr. Joanne Kearon, Middlesex-London’s Associate Medical Officer of Health, encourages community members to think about what matters most to them, and how that might be impacted by a potentially serious respiratory infection.
“Travel, being active, pursuing hobbies, time with friends and family – immunization against respiratory illnesses helps keep you doing the things that you love to do. You can protect yourself against serious illness and hospitalization from COVID-19, influenza and RSV. Vaccination remains the best protection against these illnesses.”
“The sooner you get immunized the sooner you’ll enjoy that protection against the viruses that are circulating. Outbreaks in residential settings are rising, and our hospital partners are seeing an increase in Emergency Department visits and hospitalizations. I urge everyone – but especially adults 65 and older – to get protected as soon as possible,” encourages Kearon.
