More Opportunities to Receive COVID-19 Vaccine as Pace Picks Up in Race Towards Two-Dose Summer

Posted by on

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) is calling on London and Middlesex County residents to join the effort to ensure the community can have a two-dose summer and be fully vaccinated by the time classes are back in session in September. In order to achieve the goal, the Health Unit has scheduled a series of Walk-in Pop-up COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics over the next five weeks.

The clinics do not require appointments and are intended for anyone who has yet to receive their first dose of vaccine, while also supporting those who already have, get their second dose as soon as they can. The clinics will be held at various locations in the Middlesex-London region between today and August 10th; the first is being held at the Health Unit’s downtown London office at Citi Plaza, until 4:00 p.m. this afternoon.

The MLHU is also making a recommendation today that anyone who has a second dose appointment scheduled at one of its mass vaccination clinics after mid-August do their best to rebook it for one of the many appointments still available in July.

“Although the number of people who have received their COVID-19 vaccine continues to climb, we know that booking an appointment at one of the mass clinics has been a barrier for some people, so we’re pulling out all the stops and reducing barriers to make getting the vaccine easier,” says Dr. Chris Mackie, Medical Officer of Health at the Middlesex-London Health Unit. “Even with case numbers that are lower than we’ve seen in a long time, the Delta variant is a real threat in nearby regions. We need everyone to do their part to protect the community.”

The list of Walk-in Pop-up COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics is available on the Health Unit’s website at www.healthunit.com/pop-up-vaccination-clinics. The website will continue to be updated as additional clinics are added to the list, and as vaccine supplies and staff resources are available.

There are two ways to re-book a COVID-19 vaccine second-dose appointment at a mass vaccination clinic that has been scheduled in mid-August or later:

  • Visit www.covidvaccinelm.ca (new appointments open daily at 8:00 a.m.)
    • Enter Gate #4 (I need to re-book my scheduled second dose).
    • For those who received a first dose in another setting or out of region and need to book a second dose at least 28 days after a first dose of mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna), enter Gate #5, (I received my first dose elsewhere and now need to book a second dose).
  • Call 226-289-3560 (8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday to Sunday)

To cancel an existing appointment that is no longer needed, email covidcancel@mlhu.on.ca or call 519-963-4136, Monday to Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
