Health Unit to Hold Vaccination Clinics at CF Masonville Place All Next Week

Posted by on

As part of the effort to increase accessibility to the COVID-19 vaccine and come up with novel ideas for where to hold pop-up clinics, the Middlesex-London Health Unit will be introducing a different kind of vaccination clinic next week. The Health Unit is partnering with CF Masonville Place to create an opportunity for families doing their back-to-school shopping to roll up their sleeves and get protected against COVID-19 and the surging Delta variant.

The Heath Unit’s vaccination clinic will be operated out of a vacant retail space, accessible through CF Masonville Place’s Entrance 3 doors located near the entrance to SilverCity London Cinemas. The clinic will be located in the corridor between the movie theatre and the food court and will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., between Monday, August 30th and Friday, September 3rd; then from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 4th and Sunday, September 5th. The Health Unit will provide both first and second doses of vaccine at the clinic and hopes to reach those who have not yet been vaccinated due to barriers, including convenience and limited transportation options.

“We are fortunate to work with supportive partners who help us increase access to the vaccine. Through our pop-up vaccination clinics, we want to make it as easy as possible for people to get vaccinated,” says Maureen MacCormick, Director of Healthy Living and Chief of Operations, for the Middlesex-London Health Unit’s COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics. “Our goal has been, and remains, to get vaccine into as many arms as we can, as efficiently as we can. The more opportunities to get vaccinated that we bring to neighbourhoods across our community, the better the protection all of us will have from this virus.”

While the Health Unit has held COVID-19 vaccination clinics in conjunction with special events like London Ribfest & Craft Beer Festival and its Doses Till Dark clinics along Richmond Row, the partnership that will bring the vaccine to a retail setting is a new approach for the MLHU.

"CF Masonville Place is a proud supporter of the community. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic the Middlesex-London Health Unit, the City of London and Middlesex County have done a remarkable job at helping our community gain greater access to the COVID-19 vaccine, " says Sandra Lorentiu, General Manager of CF Masonville Place. “Through this clinic, we want to support the vaccination momentum that has been building in the region by providing this space for the Health Unit to offer first or second doses of vaccine to our guests.”
