Everyone 18 and Over Now Eligible for A Second Booster Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine

Posted by on

Following today’s announcement from the Ontario government, all individuals 18 years of age and older in London and Middlesex County will be able to receive a second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine starting on Thursday July 14th at 8:00 a.m. Individuals over the age of 60 have been able to receive a fourth dose since early April. It is recommended that a second booster dose be administered five months after an individual received their first booster dose of vaccine, however the second booster dose may be administered at a minimum interval of three months after the first booster dose was given.

“We know COVID-19 might not be top of mind as we get back to enjoying our favourite summer activities,” says Dr. Alex Summers, Medical Officer of Health with the Middlesex-London Health Unit. “However, COVID-19 continues to circulate in the community. Getting your first or second booster dose of vaccine helps to ensure that individuals have optimal protection for the summer months and into early fall.”

Second booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine will be available at the Middlesex-London Health Unit’s mass vaccination clinics at the Western Fair District Agriplex and the Caradoc Community Centre in Mount Brydges, as well as the Health Unit’s mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinics. Visit www.healthunit.com/covid-19-vaccine-clinics for clinic dates, times and locations. In addition to the Health Unit’s vaccination clinics, COVID-19 vaccines continue to be available through local pharmacies.

The Health Unit strongly recommends that individuals book their second booster dose vaccination appointment in advance at www.covidvaccinelm.ca, using Gate 1. Appointments can also be booked over the phone by calling 226-289-3560, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
