Health Unit Reports Season’s First Probable Human Case of West Nile Virus

London, ON – The Middlesex-London Health Unit has received a report from Public Health Ontario’s Toronto Laboratory of a probable human case of West Nile Virus (WNV) infection. The results of further tests are pending before the case can be confirmed as West Nile Virus. So far this summer, Public Health Ontario has reported one confirmed human case as well as one probable case of West Nile Virus, and 41 positive mosquito traps across Ontario.


Health Unit to Add to Efforts in Parkhill as West Nile Virus-Positive Crow Found

London, ON – A dead crow found in Parkhill that tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV), has prompted the Middlesex-London Health Unit to increase its surveillance and control efforts in the North Middlesex community. Health Unit staff will increase standing water treatments in the area and set up a new mosquito trap to help detect further WNV activity.


Dead Birds Found In North London and Dorchester Test Positive for West Nile Virus

Two dead birds, one found in North London and the other found in Dorchester, have tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV), which are the first birds to test WNV positive this year in the Middlesex-London area.


Mosquitoes Found in North London Trap Test Positive for West Nile Virus

Laboratory analysis of mosquitoes found in a trap located near Fanshawe Park Road and Adelaide Street has confirmed the insects were carrying the West Nile Virus.


Region's Second Heat Alert Extended as Hot Temperatures Continue to Linger

The sweltering heat that has held the Middlesex-London region in its grip since the start of the week isn’t expected to ease until the weekend, prompting the Health Unit to extend the current Heat Alert.
