MLHU Set to Reopen Vaccination Clinic at White Oaks Mall Starting Thursday

Posted by on

After hosting a successful clinic at White Oaks Mall in September 2021, the Middlesex-London Health Unit is set to re-open its walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the south London mall this week. Re-opening the clinic at White Oaks Mall aligns with the Health Unit’s strategy of offering the vaccine in easy and convenient ways that reduce barriers for people.

The clinic will be set up next to Tim Hortons, near the food court, and can be accessed most easily via the east entrance near RBC, facing Wellington Road. It will be open Thursdays through Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., starting on Thursday April 7th. The clinic is currently scheduled to operate out of White Oaks Mall until Saturday, April 30th. The location will offer the vaccine to anyone five years of age and older, those who require booster doses, and individuals who haven’t been able to be vaccinated due to barriers including convenience, availability and transportation challenges. The Health Unit’s last COVID-19 vaccine clinic that ran out of White Oaks Mall saw the administration of 5,729 doses between September 14th and October 10th, 2021.

“The success of our mall-based clinics has shown that providing the COVID-19 vaccine in a convenient and accessible retail setting is an effective way to reach people who may not have been able to attend one of our mass vaccination clinics,” says Dr. Alex Summers, Medical Officer of Health with the Middlesex-London Health Unit. “As cases in our community start to rise, the protection provided by a full series of vaccine, and a booster dose for those who are eligible, is an important way to remain protected from severe illness. This is especially important with the recent lifting of masking requirements and capacity limits.”

“White Oaks Mall is pleased to assist the Middlesex-London Health Unit in making vaccines easy and accessible for our community,” says Jeff Wilson, General Manager at White Oaks Mall. “The White Oaks Mall clinic will provide a convenient vaccination option for many people in the City of London, as well as visitors from the surrounding communities who visit our shopping centre.”
