Special Ramadan Diabetes Clinic at St. Joseph's Primary Care Diabetes Support Program

Beginning June 28, thousands of Muslims in London will start a month of daily fasting from dawn until sunset in observance of Ramadan. For the second year, St. Joseph’s Primary Care Diabetes Support Program (PCDSP) is offering a special clinic to help those with diabetes stay healthy and fast safely during the month of Ramadan.

An estimated 3,000 Muslims who have diabetes live in London and it is expected many will fast during Ramadan, creating a challenge for themselves and their health care providers. The services provided through St. Joseph’s PCDSP include:

  • in-clinic visits for diet counseling.
  • advice on physical activity during Ramadan.
  • medication adjustment to match the changes in lifestyle.
  • remote support via phone or email to answer questions related to fasting, medication and to help individuals deal with complications as they arise.

The Ramadan clinic is located at St. Joseph’s Family Medical and Dental Centre on Platt’s Lane. Those interested can call 519 646-6100 ext. 67268.
