Correspondence Received

a)             Dated 2012 June 27 (Received 2012 July 3) Correspondence from Ms. Linda Rowe, Deputy City Clerk, City of London, to the Chair and Members of the Board of Health advising that Council at its session held on June 26 and 27, 2012, resolved the following:

“That the communication dated May 18, 2012, from Patricia Coderre, resigning her appointment to the Middlesex-London Board of Health, effective Friday, December 14, 2012, BE ACCEPTED and the City Clerk BE REQUESTED to advertise for applications for the upcoming vacancy.”

b)            Date 2012 June 28 (Received 2012 August 17) A copy of correspondence from Mr. Gary McNamara, Chairperson, Board of Directors, Windsor-Essex County Health Unit to Premier Dalton McGuinty urging for his government’s support of the development, implementation, and monitoring of the proposed Ontario Food and Nutrition Strategy.

c)             Dated 2012 July 17 (Received 2012 July 27) Correspondence from The Honourable Deb Matthews, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, to Ms. Viola Poletes Montgomery, Chair, Middlesex London Board of Health, advising that the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care will provide the Board of Health with up to $18,437,742 in annual based funding for 2012 and up to $811,881 in one-time funding.

d)            Dated 2012 July 31 (Received 2012 August 2) A copy of correspondence from Mr. Gary Burroughs, Regional Chair, Regional Municipality of Niagara, to The Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, advising that the following recommendations were made at the direction of council:   

1.                That the Chair of the Board of Health BE DIRECTED to write a letter to the federal Minister of Citizenship, Immigration, and Multiculturalism to reinstate the Interim Federal Health Program;

2.                That the Chair of the Board of Health BE DIRECTED to recommend the federal Minister of Citizenship, Immigration, and Multiculturalism consult with provinces, municipalities, public health units, and refugee networks and organizations across Canada to ensure national and local strategies are in place to maintain and improve refugee health;

3.                That staff BE DIRECTED to forward a copy of this report and letter to the federal Minister of Citizenship, Immigration, and Multiculturalism to the Ontario Minister of Health and Long-Term Care and all boards of health in Ontario urging them to also advocate to the federal Minister of Citizenship, Immigration, and Multiculturalism to reinstate the Interim Federal Health Program. 

e)             Dated 2012 August 1 (Received 2012 August 22) Correspondence from The Honourable Deb Matthews, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, to Dr. Graham Pollett, Secretary-Treasurer, Middlesex London Board of Health, thanking Dr. Pollett for his letter suggesting that Ontario initiate a plan to reduce artificial trans-fat.  

f)             Dated 2012 August 29 (Received 2012 August 30) A copy of correspondence from The Honourable Deb Matthews, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, to Ms. Doreen McLinchey, thanking Ms. McLinchey for her commitment as a member of the Board of Health as her appointment expired on August 10, 2012.
