Section 22 Orders

Effective 12:01 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2021, there are two Section 22 Orders in place for the City of London and Middlesex County to address identified COVID-19-related safety risks that exist in the community.

Section 22 Order for Food and Drink Establishments

This Section 22 Order is to all persons in the City of London or County of Middlesex who operate any establishment that serves food and/or drink pursuant to a licence issued by the Municipality and/or Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. The following requirements come into effect 12:01 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2021.

1. Any patron in attendance at any establishment that serves food and/or drink pursuant to a licence issued by the Municipality and/or Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario shall wear a mask or face covering at all times, with the exception of consuming food or drink in a designated and seated area.

2. Any patron in attendance at any establishment that serves food and/or drink pursuant to a licence issued by the Municipality and/or Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario shall only consume food or drink while seated at designated tables that are separated by a distance of at least two metres or by plexiglass or some other impermeable barrier.


Section 22 Order for Organized Public Events and Social Gatherings

This Section 22 Order is to all persons in the City of London or County of Middlesex who attend an organized public event or social gathering must follow the orders below. The following requirements come into effect 12:01 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2021.

1. No person shall attend,

a. an organized public event of more than, 

i. 25 people if the event is held indoors, or
ii. 100 people if the event is held outdoors;

b. a social gathering of more than, 

i. 25 people if the event is held indoors, or
ii. 100 people if the event is held outdoors; or

c. a social gathering associated with a wedding, a funeral or a religious service, rite or ceremony of more than, 

i. 25 people if the event is held indoors, or
ii. 100 people if the event is held outdoors.

2. This Order does not apply to exemptions listed in Schedule 3, sections 2 to 5, of O. Reg. 364/20: RULES FOR AREAS AT STEP 3 AND AT THE ROADMAP EXIT STEP under Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act, 2020, S.O. 2020, c. 17.

3. This Order does not apply to indoor or outdoor weddings, funerals or religious services, rites or ceremonies as listed in Schedule 3, sections 6 and 7, of O. Reg. 364/20: RULES FOR AREAS AT STEP 3 AND AT THE ROADMAP EXIT STEP under Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act, 2020, S.O. 2020, c. 17.

4. For greater certainty, subsection (1) applies with respect to an organized or informal public event or social gathering, whether it is held on a street or private dwelling, including houses, apartment buildings, condominium buildings and post-secondary student residences.
