Pool Safety

Drowning is a silent danger and the second leading cause of death for Canadian children. It can happen in an instant, but affects a family for a lifetime. A few moments of inattention by a parent or caregiver can result in a child slipping silently under the water without anyone noticing. Protect your family and friends by the pool.

Safety Tips

  • Keep your family safe by supervising children in and around the pool
  • Keep them within sight and arms’ reach
  • Make sure young children and weak swimmers wear personal flotation devices at all times
  • Take swimming lessons and learn first aid1
