Windchill Values Expected to Carry Over into Tomorrow Extending the Cold Weather Alert

Posted by on

Bitter cold temperatures and gusting winds are expected to continue in London and Middlesex County today and overnight, extending the regions first cold weather alert for the year into Saturday.

The forecast calls for temperatures to drop to -16°C tonight with a windchill falling to -24 and similar conditions continuing into the morning hours on Saturday. These expected conditions have led the Health Unit to extend the current Cold Weather Alert. The alert will remain in place until these values climb above the Health Unit’s windchill threshold of -20.

Anyone planning on being outdoors or taking part in winter activities tonight and tomorrow are reminded to prepare for the conditions, including dressing in warm layers and limiting the amount of time spent outdoors.
